Learn moreWhich Service Fits Your Project?
Most people who call us know roughly what they want but not always what to call it. Here is how we think about each of our building and remodeling services, and when each one is the right fit.
Custom Home Construction
Choose custom home construction when you own a lot, or are about to buy one, and want a house designed around it rather than picked from a catalog. We evaluate the lot first — flood zone, fill, utilities or well and septic, setbacks — then develop plans, pricing, and selections before anything is permitted. Every new home we build is a hurricane-proof home: concrete block, a continuous load path from roof to footing, impact-rated windows and doors throughout, and a floor at or above the required flood elevation.
Home Remodeling
Choose home remodeling when the house is in the right place but no longer works the way you live — closed-off rooms, dated finishes, original windows, or damage from the last storm. Whole-home remodels often combine several services at once: a new kitchen, updated baths, new flooring, and impact-rated window replacement, scheduled as one project instead of five. If your home is in a flood zone, we check the FEMA 50% rule before design begins so the scope you approve is one that can actually be permitted.
Kitchen Remodeling
Choose kitchen remodeling when the kitchen is the problem: a galley layout walled off from the family room, low soffits, worn cabinets, or not enough counter space. We start with the layout, then cabinetry, countertops, lighting, and appliances. Because we are builders, walls can move, plumbing can be relocated through the slab, and electrical can be upgraded for modern appliances, all under the same permit.
Bathroom Remodeling
Choose bathroom remodeling for a tub-to-shower conversion, a primary bath overhaul, an accessible bathroom for aging in place, or a hall bath that has simply worn out. The part you cannot see matters most: a continuous waterproofing system behind the tile, a properly sloped shower pan, solid blocking for grab bars and glass, and an exhaust fan ducted outside so Florida humidity does not rot the room from within.
Home Additions
Choose a home addition when you need more room but want to keep the house, the neighborhood, or the view. Primary suites, in-law suites, extra bedrooms, garages, and lanai conversions all qualify. An addition is new construction joined to an existing building, so it is built to current hurricane code with an engineered roof tie-in, even when the original house was not. We confirm setbacks, septic location, and flood requirements before anything is drawn.
“Houses shouldn't break.”
That is the whole idea behind every home we build and every remodel we take on: a house should stand for decades without major problems. Concrete block, engineered roof connections, impact-rated windows and doors, and correct flood elevation — built to hold up to whatever Florida weather brings.
One Builder for the Whole Project
Many remodeling companies specialize in a single room or a single trade. We are home builders first, which means we are comfortable with every part of a house — foundation, structure, roof, mechanical systems, and finishes. That matters when a kitchen remodel uncovers a plumbing problem in the slab, or when an addition needs an engineered roof tie-in.
It also keeps things simple for you. Whether you need custom home construction or a bathroom update, our building and remodeling services come with one contract, one schedule, and one company accountable for the result. We coordinate the permits, the subcontractors, the inspections, and the punch list.
Every service is held to the same standard: Brian Brunderman's motto that houses shouldn't break. In practice that means hurricane-proof construction details wherever the scope allows — impact-rated windows and doors, strapped roof connections, correctly flashed openings, and waterproofing that is its own step rather than an afterthought.

How Scope and Pricing Work
Every project starts with a visit and a conversation about what you want and what you want to spend. From there we put together a written scope of work with pricing and allowances for the finishes you will choose, so you can see where the money goes and adjust before construction rather than during it. Permits, engineering, and inspections are part of the scope, not surprises added later. Read our guide to remodeling permits for more on what needs one.
Questions About Our Services
Can one project include more than one service?
Yes, and many do. A whole-home remodel frequently includes a new kitchen, one or two bathrooms, and impact-rated window replacement, while an addition often comes with a kitchen or bath update in the existing house. We price and schedule it as one project under one contract and one permit set wherever possible.
Do you only build new homes, or do you take smaller remodels too?
We do both. Brunderman Building Co Inc has built more than 200 homes in Charlotte County, and we also take on individual kitchen and bathroom remodels. The same builder-level standard applies to a single bathroom as to a whole house.
Are impact-rated windows included in your projects?
On new custom homes and home additions, impact-rated windows and doors are standard. On remodels, replacing older windows and sliders with impact-rated units is the first storm upgrade we recommend, and it can be added to almost any scope.
What does a first conversation involve?
Call us — we are available 24/7 — or send the quote form. We will ask where the property is, what you want to build or change, and your rough timing and budget, then set up a visit to see the house or lot in person.
